Automatic Membership Renewal (Auto-renewal) FAQDo all chapters have the auto-renewal option?By October 31, 2025 all chapters will have the auto-renewal option enabled. Members can choose to auto-renew or not, they will not be forced into auto-renewal. Where do I see my auto-renewal setting? When you log into your member portal and view your profile, you'll see your member status immediately to the right. If you are opted-in to automatic renewal, it will display “Set to auto-renew on [expiration date]” under your membership status. Where do I control my auto-renewal setting?Auto-renewal can be activated during the membership purchase process or if the member is renewing with a form. Auto-renewal can be turned off by submitting an auto-renewal cancellation, which is listed alongside the join options in the membership portal. Members can also turn auto-renewal off by contacting the NAHREP office at 877-2-NAHREP. Will this turn on auto-renewal for me immediately or without my approval? No, auto-renewal can only be activated by the member while purchasing a membership. However, the opt-in checkbox is filled by default (we cannot control this). To encourage extra awareness, we have added a mandatory review that members must complete before making their membership purchase, as well as detailed instructions on how to turn off the auto-renewal option before progressing in the purchase. Can current members turn on auto-renewal if they are not in their renewal period? No, auto-renewal is only accessible during membership purchase or renewal. If you have a special concern you can call the NAHREP office at 877-2-NAHREP, but we recommend waiting until your renewal period. How much warning do I get before the auto-renewal payment is charged?Members get a reminder 30 days before the scheduled payment and again 7 days before the scheduled payment. These reminders include a link where you can cancel your auto-renewal payment. What happens if I don't want to auto-renew but get charged anyways? As long as you have not used the membership for any member discounts, you will be refunded the full amount. If you have used the membership to get member discounts after the auto-renewal payment, you will be refunded the full amount minus the member discount (e.g. if the unwanted auto-renewal was $49 and you registered for an event the next day and got a $20 discount, you would be refunded $29). What happens if I'm opted into auto-renewal but my card expires by the time the renewal comes? You will receive a failed payment notification email when the renewal payment fails. The system will attempt the payment again the following day and will stop attempting if the payment fails again. For immediate assistance please call 1-858-622-9046 during business hours. You can also email [email protected] and a staff member will respond within 72 hours. |
